As of March 3, 2026, Iranian state media and officials are screaming “war crime” at the top of their lungs. A girls’ elementary school in the southern port town of Minab, Hormozgan province, was allegedly hit during the first day of U.S.-Israeli strikes on February 28. The Shajareh Tayyebeh school — a bright-colored building packed with 7- to 12-year-old girls — supposedly took three missiles. Death toll according to Tehran: started at ~40, ballooned to 85, then 115, 150, 165, and now 175–180 “mostly children.” Graphic videos of rubble, scattered backpacks, schoolbooks, and wailing mothers flooded global media within hours. UNESCO condemned it as a “grave violation of humanitarian law.” Malala Yousafzai called it heartbreaking. The regime demands the world stop the strikes and punish the “Zionist-American aggressors.”
Sound familiar? It should. This is the exact same script the Iranian regime and its Islamist predecessors have run for nearly 50 years whenever civilian bodies pile up — especially kids — and they need a propaganda win.
Exhibit A: Cinema Rex, Abadan, August 19, 1978

A packed movie theater showing The Deer. Doors chained shut from the outside. Gasoline poured. 377 to 470 people burned alive or suffocated — the deadliest arson attack in history at the time.
Immediate narrative from Khomeini’s revolutionaries and their Western useful idiots: “SAVAK false-flag! The Shah’s secret police did it to discredit us pious Muslims!” Flyers, mosque sermons, opposition radio from exile hammered it. The lie spread like wildfire. It turned public opinion decisively against the monarchy, helped ignite the 1979 Islamic Revolution, and became holy writ in regime textbooks.
The truth? Four radical Islamists tied directly to Khomeini’s faction planned and executed it. One confessed in 1979 (before being executed to shut him up). Iranian newspaper Sobhe Emrooz spelled it out in 2001: Islamist perpetrators. The regime immediately suppressed the story and kept the “SAVAK did it” myth alive for domestic consumption. Perfect false-flag reversal: commit the atrocity, blame the enemy, harvest the rage.
Exhibit B: Ukraine International Airlines Flight PS752, January 8, 2020

IRGC Tor-M1 missiles blew a civilian Boeing 737 out of the sky minutes after takeoff from Tehran. All 176 dead — Iranians, Canadians, Ukrainians, Swedes, Brits.
Day 1–3: Total denial. “Technical failure, engine fire, Boeing’s fault, CIA disinformation.” Crash site bulldozed. Black boxes hidden. Journalists threatened.
Once videos of the missiles went viral and Western governments produced radar proof: pivot to “human error… caused by U.S. adventurism and tensions after Soleimani’s killing.” Foreign Minister Zarif literally tweeted that America created the “atmosphere” that forced the “mistake.” Leaked internal IRGC documents later proved they knew within hours it was their missiles. The cover-up was deliberate, coordinated at the highest levels. Protests erupted inside Iran — “IRGC murderers!” — met with live gunfire.
Same pattern: they did it, lied for days, blamed the Great Satan, used the bodies to deflect blame and rally the base.
The 2022–2023 School Poisonings (Mini-Version of the Playbook)
Hundreds of girls’ schools hit with suspected chemical agents. Students collapsing, vomiting, hospitalized. Regime: “Mass psychogenic illness… or Zionist/CIA chemical attacks on our innocent daughters!” Arrested “foreign agents,” daily horror stories on state TV. Reality (per dissidents, UN reports, leaked evidence): hardline elements inside the regime or Basij-linked groups, designed to terrorize families and justify more repression. Again, externalize the blame.
Now Enter Minab, February 28, 2026
Exact same neighborhood playbook, upgraded for wartime.
• The school sits 600 meters from an IRGC naval base/barracks that had been publicly identified as a legitimate military target for years.
• U.S. and Israeli strikes that day hammered IRGC command nodes, missile sites, and naval facilities across southern Iran — part of the campaign that killed Supreme Leader Khamenei and top brass.
• Iranian state media: “Three missiles deliberately targeted the school while classes were in session.” Death toll inflated hourly. Emotional imagery everywhere.
• U.S. State Department / CENTCOM: “We do not deliberately target schools.” “Looking into reports.”
• Israel: “Not aware of any strike on that specific location” or outright “the regime itself killed them.”
• Independent analysts and Iranian dissident channels (already active on X and Telegram): Schools were ordered closed that morning by the regime itself. Videos show Iranian SAMs malfunctioning and falling back over nearby Bandar Abbas. The school was literally built/expanded right next to the military base — classic human-shield doctrine the IRGC has used for decades (see: Hezbollah in Lebanon, Hamas in Gaza).
• No independent journalists or forensic teams allowed in. No black-box equivalent. No satellite imagery released by Iran showing pre-strike school occupancy. Just regime footage and rapidly escalating body counts.
The Questions No One in Tehran Wants Answered
1. Why was a girls’ elementary school operating at full capacity on the first day of a massive, publicly announced U.S.-Israeli air campaign?
2. Why place children’s classrooms 600 meters from an active IRGC naval missile base? Coincidence, or deliberate human shielding?
3. How does the death toll climb from “dozens” to 180+ in 48 hours with zero independent verification? (Compare to real collateral events where numbers stabilize or drop after forensics.)
4. Why the immediate, coordinated global media blitz with identical wording (“deliberate massacre of schoolgirls”) before any crater analysis or munition fragments are shown?
5. If it was a precision U.S./Israeli strike on the adjacent military target, why not show the miss distance, the type of weapon, or the secondary explosions from IRGC ordnance that could have caused the school damage?
This is not skepticism for its own sake. It is pattern recognition based on 48 years of documented Iranian regime behavior.
Whenever the Islamic Republic (or the revolutionaries who birthed it) causes, enables, or stands next to mass civilian death — especially involving schools or children — the response is identical:
1. Inflate numbers aggressively.
2. Flood with emotional props (backpacks in rubble, chained cinema doors, body bags).
3. Blame the eternal external enemy (SAVAK → U.S. → “Zionist entity” → CIA/Mossad).
4. Use the dead as human shields in the information war to stop military pressure, extract concessions, or rally domestic support.
The Minab amplification is already working exactly as designed. International bodies are condemning based solely on Iranian-sourced figures. Western media is running the regime’s graphics. Dissidents warning “Cinema Rex 2.0” on February 27 were proven right within 24 hours.
Until an independent, on-the-ground investigation with access to the site, autopsies, munition fragments, and unedited flight data or radar logs is allowed — which the regime will never permit — the only rational response is extreme skepticism. History has taught us the lesson in blood and lies: when Tehran points the finger at outsiders over dead Iranian children, check who actually had the motive, the proximity, and the track record of weaponizing corpses.
The pattern is not a conspiracy theory. It is a 50-year operating manual.
And Minab is just the latest chapter.
